What you need to know about Clementine:
•Even though everyone is always saying “Pay attention, Clementine!” she is excellent at noticing things, like the lady in the park eating lentils -- with a toothbrush!
•She is the inventor of the world’s first pair of bologna eyeglasses.
•She is going to have hundreds of tattoos when she grows up.
•Spectacularful ideas are always sproinging up in her head! And it’s not her fault if things that start out astoundishing end up . . . a disaster.
Meet Clementine -- a charmingly flawed and quirky character with an altogether unforgettable voice.
Marla Frazee, in her first illustrated chapter book, has breathed life into Clementine and her world with brilliant black-and-white ink drawings that are both classic yet fresh. Told by Sara Pennypacker with humor and warmth in the tradition of Beverly Cleary’s Ramona, this is sure to be an instant hit with both boys and girls.
Sara Pennypacker was a painter before becoming a writer and has two absolutely fabulous children who are grown now. She has written several books, including Stewart’s Cape and Stewart Goes to School, both illustrated by Martin Matje, and Dumbstruck. When she was in school, she never had any problem at all paying attention. Okay, fine. That last part was about somebody else. Sara lives on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Marla Frazee is the author/illustrator of Walk On!, Santa Claus the World’s Number One Toy Expert, and Roller Coaster. She is also the illustrator of The Seven Silly Eaters, Everywhere Babies and a bunch of other books. She works in a small backyard cabin under an avocado tree in Pasadena, California, and tries to pay attention to her three sons, her husband, her dog, the grocery shopping, and the laundry.
