MORE ABOUT JUMP AT THE SUN

  • Jump at the Sun’s first list was published in Fall 1998.

  • Jump at the Sun takes its name from Harlem -- when Renaissance writer Zora Neale Hurston was a child, her mother encouraged her to aim high in life -- to jump at the sun.

  • Jump at the Sun celebrates the African-American experience – books that invite all children to embrace the beauties of black culture and share in the black experience. Books that say, “Child, this one’s for you.”
